Dear Election Law colleagues,
We are delighted to inform you that the Brennan Center for Justice has just released a 2012 update to its online voter education resource: our 50-state Student Voting Guide.<http://www.brennancenter.org/content/student_voting/>
This guide is designed to help students and advocates understand the diverse patchwork of state laws governing student voters. It explains the basic residency, registration, identification, and absentee voting requirements for student voters in each of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. Many students who leave home to attend college are often misinformed about where they are eligible to vote. This guide seeks to remedy this confusion and make sure every student can cast a ballot that counts.
We will also be working closely with Rock the Vote to get the word out to students this fall encouraging them to know their rights, register, vote, and organize!
We welcome you to share and make use of this resource in any way you can. Please contact us if you have any comments or additional information relating to the guide. We would be delighted to discuss them with you or to answer any questions.
Respectfully,
