Press release
<http://www.projectvote.org/blog/2012/08/it-is-harder-to-vote-in-america-than-it-was-in-2008/>:
"Voting has become more difficult in the last four years, says a new
report from the nonprofit voting rights organization Project Vote. /Laws
Against Voting: State Statutes that Restrict Participation in 2012/
<http://bit.ly/PL0svd> shows that state legislatures have passed
unnecessary election restrictions that make it harder for all
Americans---particularly low-income and minority citizens---to register
and vote."

"Group to sue for purge of the rolls; Tens of thousands of errors
alleged in voter registration" <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=39143>

The latest
<http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/201208262244/NEWS0106/308270019>
from Ohio: "The battle over Ohio's electoral integrity is intensifying,
with groups linked to restrictive voting efforts across the nation
planning to sue the state over what it alleges are tens of thousands of
"problem" names on voter registration rolls. In the courts, at local
boards of elections and in increasingly acrimonious public rhetoric,
Ohio is more than living up to its reputation as a battleground state in
this fall's presidential election, particularly in regard to the voting
procedures that will govern how that race is contested. At a
sometimes-contentious meeting Saturday at a suburban Columbus hotel,
more than 100 people attended a summit hosted by a Texas-based group
called True the Vote at which an allied organization, Judicial Watch,
announced plans to sue Ohio this week over the purported improper
registrations."
Another snippet: "The 'election integrity summit' saw several attendees
-- not members of any of the groups, but rather people monitoring the
activities -- shouted down whenever they asked questions framed around a
contrary point of view."

"Romney Rules Changes Could Spark GOP Convention Floor Fight"
<http://electionlawblog.org/?p=39128>
Posted on August 26, 2012 9:42 pm <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=39128>

Fascinating Buzzfeed report,
<http://www.buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/romney-rules-changes-could-spark-gop-convention-fl>which
begins: "Frustration over changes to the Republican Party's rules pushed
through by the Romney Campaign on Friday may lead to a fight on the
floor of the Republican National Convention on Monday. The Convention
Committee on Rules took a number of steps on Friday to weaken the power
of state conventions and state parties, while consolidating the power of
presidential candidates in the nominating process. Some of the changes
--- to require that delegations from statewide caucuses and primaries to
the convention adhere to the will of voters --- weakened the hand of
insurgent-type candidates but have been well received by the committee.
But a change allowing presidential candidates the right to vet their own
delegates to the national convention has many state party officials up
in arms --- and they are planning to bring it to the convention floor."
