Election hearing in the Senate is probably half way over but can be watched

Nina Perales has done an excellent job pointing out how costly (in policy
effects) some recent policies are (or would be) compared to the size of the
problem. Meanwhile, the state officials keep making basic errors in causal
attribution.

Left out so far is why states do not work harder to properly implement the
NVRA? Doing so would securely register people currently unregistered and
update the registrations of the large percentage of people that move every
year (thus, cleaning up registration lists that is often discussed), among
other things. In short, the benefits of improving NVRA compliance and
performance are MULTIPLE times the size of the benefits the election
officials are talking about. Moreover, of the states on the panel, all have
had documented problems with NVRA implementation in their history!
