[EL] winning in Congress but not living in the district

In 2004 Chris Chocola, now President of the Club for Growth, was elected
from a congressional district including South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana,
even though he lived in a small town, Bristol, just outside the borders of
his district. To my knowledge he never moved into the district even after
he was elected.

Well, try Morgan Griffith, elected to represent Virginia's 9th District just
last election (2010). Here is alocal news story wrapping up the race a
noting that his (non) residency was an issue:

He was not living there and, I believe, never had lived there.

To the best of my knowledge I cannot find an example dating all the way back
to 1842 when Congress mandated single-member districts for Congress.

Thank you.
