At the close of the OVF Summit, which Rick blogged about today, Pew will be hosting a reception, to which all are invited. We encourage everyone to RSVP and attend, and also attend the full summit that day, which is sure to be very informative on an issue I know a lot of us care very deeply about - full enfranchisement for military and overseas voters. Hope to see many of you there!

The Pew Center on the States invites you to a reception to celebrate the progress that has been made to ensure that military and overseas voters can cast a ballot and have it count.

January 27, 2012, 5:30 p.m.

Mayflower Renaissance Hotel, State Room
1127 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.

RSVP by e-mailing elections at pewtrusts.org<mailto:elections at pewtrusts.org>

The reception is free and will celebrate the progress and remember the ongoing vigilance required for our military and overseas voters. Speakers include:

* Susan K. Urahn, Managing Director, Pew Center on the States

* Jon Husted, Ohio Secretary of State

* Ross Miller, Nevada Secretary of State

The Pew Center on the States believes that it is a moral imperative to ensure the full enfranchisement of uniformed service members and overseas civilians. Four years ago, Pew committed to help remedy challenges facing these voters. Since then, Pew has seen great progress including the passage of the federal Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act, and laws in 47 states and the District of Columbia resulting in military voters being better protected than they have ever been in American history.

The reception caps off the Overseas Vote Foundation's Sixth Annual UOCAVA Summit 2012<https://www.overseasvotefoundation.org/initiatives-UOCAVAsummit-summit2012>, a full-day conference, also on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Mayflower, covering issues challenges, progress, and potential solutions to ensure that overseas and military voters have adequate time and resources to fully participate in our democracy. Summit 2012 will explore new technologies and innovative ways of approaching problems in overseas and military voting. Pew VIP Summit passes are available on request to summit at overseasvotefoundation.org<mailto:summit at overseasvotefoundation.org>.
