Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Project Manager duties and responsibilities:
* This position will form part of a team conducting research on electoral integrity, under the supervision of the Project Director;
* Duties involve managing and coordinating the daily work of the research team, the visiting research fellows program, and the project budget, under the supervision of the Project Director;
* Responsibilities also include the project datasets, organising annual project workshops and monthly project seminars, and writing and editing working papers and publications.
Essential skills and qualifications:
* A PhD dissertation (defended before September 2012) in Comparative Politics, Political Science or a related field is required;
* Advanced skills in research methods and the use of standard statistical packages (Stata or SPSS);
* A publication record in peer-reviewed international journals;
* Experience and demonstrated skills in managing collaborative teams;
* Excellent English language skills.
Desirable competencies:
* Research interests in the study of comparative politics;
* Strong research motivation, analytical and communication skills, oral, statistical, and written;
* Ability to set priorities, work flexibly under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines;
* Capacity for personal independence, initiative and creativity;
* Ability to motivate colleagues and collaborate in teams;
* Willingness to travel internationally and work in a multicultural context;
* Some knowledge of other languages is highly desirable;
* Skills in editing, writing and research;
* Advanced skills with various standard software packages, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Remuneration package (Academic Level B): AU$104,644 p.a. (which includes a base salary of AU$88,426 p.a, leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation).
Assistance towards the travel relocation costs will be offered following appointment (up to AU$3,000 for non-Australian resident and up to AU$1,000 for Australian residents).
Reimbursements of expenses will be available for up to two conferences (at which the fellow presents a written paper) per year (maximum of AU$1,000 and economy-class travel).
