totally.

Most conservatives, and most liberals, blame the correct party (the US
Supreme Court) for the correct thing (a pivotal role in fostering increased
money corruption in politics).   So what if CU is a symbolic stand-in for
other cases as well, and CU standing alone did not do all the damage?

Were the public to become aware that it is not just CU but numerous cases
that ushered in the present state of affairs the effect would be to make
the public more radical in their critiques, not to accept the CU decision.
