    "Obama maintains ad advantage despite being outspent by GOP"

Dan Eggen
<http://electionlawblog.org/Obama%20maintains%20ad%20advantage%20despite%20being%20outspent%20by%20GOP>:
"President Obama and his allies have aired more ads in battleground
states this month than Mitt Romney and his supporters, despite being
outspent by the Republican nominee and GOP groups, according to a study
released Wednesday. The Obama campaign and its supporters spent $77
million on 112,730 advertisements from Oct. 1 to Oct. 21, according to
the Wesleyan Media Project
<http://mediaproject.wesleyan.edu/2012/10/24/2012-shatters-2004-and-2008-records-for-total-ads-aired/>,
which tracks and analyzes political ad spending. Romney and his allies,
by contrast, spent more money --- $87 million --- on 15,000 fewer spots
than their opponents."

    "Armstrong Offering Free VOD of New Anti-Obama Documentary"

Interesting
<http://www.multichannel.com/cable-operators/armstrong-offering-free-vod-new-anti-obama-documentary/139982>:
"Armstrong Cable Services is showing the controversial new documentary
"2016: Obama's America" as a free video-on-demand selection. Given
Armstrong's extensive base in Ohio and Pennsylvania, two swing states in
the upcoming election, the MSO's free offer is triggering controversy,
especially since company executives are financial backers of Republican
causes and the Mitt Romney campaign."

Echoes of "Hillary the Movie."

    "Rep. Jim Moran's Son Resigns Over James O'Keefe Video"
    <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=42325>

TPM
<http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/rep-jim-morans-son-resigns-over-james-okeefe>:
"Patrick Moran, son of Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA), resigned from his father's
campaign on Wednesday after conservative activist James O'Keefe released
a video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT77qP2Nai8&feature=youtu.be>
that appears to show him offering advice to an undercover videographer
who claimed to want to commit voter fraud."

What would be useful would be if O'Keefe actually caught people
committing election crimes unrelated to fraudulent activities invited or
planned by O'Keefe himself. (Nor does any of this prove the need for
voter id, which Virginia already has.)

    "Federal Judge Announces Provisional Ballot Ruling"

EL at M <http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/analysis/index.php?ID=9921>:
"Judge Marbley, federal district judge in Ohio, announced from the bench
a two-part ruling: (1) based on the federal Constitution, he is
extending his "right location, wrong precinct" injunction
<http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/litigation/documents/SEIUopinion.pdf>
to cover provisional ballots cast in the wrong polling location (as long
as they are cast in the same county in Ohio); and (2) for this year's
election, he is rescinding the NEOCH
<http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/litigation/NEOCHv.Blackwell.php>
consent decree insofar as applied to missing names or signatures (or
other "ballot affirmation errors") on provisional ballot envelopes. He
indicated that a written opinion will follow in the next day or two."

More later as I'm on the road.
