Republican Jon Caldara calls attention to the question in Colorado
<http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_24040159/new-el-paso-county-resident-jon-caldara-turns>,
changing his registration address from one county to another, where he
has a week-to-week lease, and casting a blank ballot in the recall
election. His goal is "to show how easy it is under the new law [passed
by Democrats] to move voters from district to district," but some claim
Caldara's actions constitute voting fraud.

Matthew Cooper of National Journal
<http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/everyone-s-a-hypocrite-on-voter-ids-20130905>:
"On the left, voter-ID laws are being dismissed as the second coming of
Jim Crow.... On the right, they're being hailed as common-sense measures
to prevent ballot fraud and keep elections fair and honest without
discriminating against anyone. Both are wrong, although there's no
reason to engage in false equivalence: The Right is more wrong than the
Left."

"Texas: Split Ruling Over Political Maps"

The AP reports
<http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/07/us/texas-split-ruling-over-political-maps.html?_r=0>:
"A federal court said Friday that it would not delay Texas' primary
elections and ordered the state to temporarily use political maps drawn
by the Legislature while the judges sort out a complex lawsuit."
The court also allowed plaintiffs to amend their lawsuit to include a
claim to bail in Texas under Section 3 of the Voting Rights Act, and
rejected a motion to dismiss claims against 2011 maps on mootness
grounds. Texas Redistricting & Election Law has analysis of the
rulings and their consequences here

You can't make this stuff up
<http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/06/coconut-detained-maldives-vote-rigging>:
A coconut has been detained by Maldivian police on suspicion of
vote-rigging in a key presidential election...
The local Minivan news website reported that police "took the coconut
into their possession" around 7.05am on Tuesday, after they received a
complaint about the suspicious fruit near the school [to be used as a
polling station] on the Guraidhoo Island....
Minivan said its source had suggested the coconut "was a lesson for
islanders not to practise black magic in an attempt to influence voting,
and that the polling area would be closely monitored to prevent such
activities from occurring".

report that a consent decree was signed by a federal district judge in
Mississippi, ordering Walthall County to clean up its voter registration
rolls. The consent decree is in a lawsuit reportedly brought by the
American Civil Rights Union, represented by former DOJ lawyers Christian
Adams, Christopher Coates, and Henry Ross, under the National Voter
Registration Act (NVRA). The case against Walthall County, and a
related case against Jefferson County (which Breitbart reports is still
pending), were mentioned on this blog
<http://electionlawblog.org/?p=49693> back in April, but I don't recall
hearing anything about them since then. I'm curious to see what the
consent decree requires --- and whether any other civil rights groups or
voters sought to intervene.

The Miami Herald reports
<http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/09/04/3605750/miami-dade-elections-department.html> that
the county will make it easier to flag suspicious applications, rather
than making it more difficult to request absentee ballots. This follows
allegations of political operatives illegally making online requests for
absentee ballots <http://electionlawblog.org/?p=54740> on behalf of voters.
