[EL] Justive Stevens testimony

Regarding Justice Stevens, as a Article III judge  testifying, I also think 
it is interesting that he dissented in Republican  Party of Minnesota v. 
White, which held that judges had a First Amendment  right to "announce their 
views on disputed legal and political issues."  He  is obviously doing this 
here but argued there that states could prohibit it  and it was a dastardly 
deed for a judge to do.
 
    I guess he has changed his mind on this, which I am  glad to see  Jim

I’m not sure why Justice Stevens doesn’t simply retire, given that he is 
not  hearing any cases.  Then there would be no controversy whatsoever about 
the  propriety of his testimony.
