Could you please identify the states that ask the question, or conversely, those that do not?

30 states plus DC ask the question on their voter registration forms about party membership, or independent status. Today (Nov. 18) I got the last state's totals (New Hampshire was the last to tally this) for the period just before this month's election. The totals I show for these 30 states plus DC are:

Democratic 42,755,625
Republican 30,938,676
independent & misc. 27,688,850
Libertarian 399,302
Green 253,267
Constitution 78,434
Working Families 58,757
Americans Elect 5,294
other parties 1,661,179 (virtually all of these parties are organized in only a single state)

Total 103,839,384.
