I seem to recall there have been a few special elections for Congress that
wound up being held on the same day as the regularly scheduled general
election for that office, usually due to death of the incumbent shortly
before the general. I'd thought it had happened with Wellstone in 2002, but
it turns out Ventura appointed someone for the duration (about 2 months).
Can anybody else recall a situation where that happened?
