[EL] status of Wagner v. FEC/soft money cases

Thanks to those who responded off list on this question (the case 
remains pending, after some additional post-argument briefing).

I have one other question. The RNC, without explanation, voluntarily 
dismissed its soft money ban challenge brought against the FEC: 
http://www.fec.gov/law/litigation/rnc_joint_dismissal.pdf.

Does anyone have any publicly quotable insight on why?  Also, I had 
thought the Libertarian party was going to bring such a suit but if 
there is one I could not find it.  Any insights there?  Thanks.
