[EL] Mechanism to Rescind Nomination

This may be a dumb question. It feels abusive to ask, since I do so
probably for no reason other than to hope this unbearably tragic devolution
of civic discourse might come to an abrupt end...

Does any mechanism exist for GOP delegates to reconvene, perhaps change
rules, and rescind Trump's nomination and give it to someone like Meg
Whitman (a non-candidate) or John Kasich?

If so, until when would this still be feasible?

[Rant restrained; but it's starting to feel realistic the party might want
to try to upgrade their nominee, even through a difficult and unprecedented
process.]
