[EL] Presidential Election Under-Votes

The California Secretary of State's web page this afternoon lists 8,935,530 votes for president, and 7,789,622 votes for US Senator.
The California Secretary of State hasn't posted any presidential write-in results yet.  In the two precincts in my neighborhood, one precinct had 5 write-ins for president (out of 291 voters who voted in the precinct as opposed to voting by mail), and the other had 7 write-ins for president (I didn't get the total vote for president in that precinct).
I was an exit pollster in Berkeley, and out of the 140 questionaires, three people said they cast a write-in for Bernie Sanders.  So, based on that limited sample of 3 precincts, I am guessing there were probably 200,000 write-ins for president in California.
California doesn't allow write-ins for congress in the general election, but does allow write-ins for president and for all non-partisan office.

I do not recall a time when I heard so many typically high efficacy voters state that they would vote for no candidate in the presidential election.  I suspect such voters to have voted in down ballot races, however.  I heard this more from Republicans than Democrats but it is certainly possible that there were Democrats in this category as well.  Trump’s support was obviously underestimated and I wonder if there really were as many people who sat out the presidential election as threatened.   Lisa T.
