(Of interest is that Herrell has not, to my knowledge, discussed her Native
heritage. I think the first people generally learned of it was when it was
discovered because of the interest in Haaland's candidacy, particularly
after Haaland won her primary in June in a relatively safe Democratic seat.)
**The other candidate, Xochitl Torres Small, is a granddaughter of Mexican
immigrants.

Possibly of interest to your project, as the lede of this piece notes (

"New Mexico is set to have a U.S. House delegation made up of all people of
color after a historic win Tuesday by a Native American candidate, a
victory by a five-term Hispanic incumbent and a too-close-to-call contest
between two other minority candidates."

Also note for your list that "Laguna Pueblo tribe" for Debra Haaland is a
misnomer -- it should be simply Laguna Pueblo.
