Without intending to get into the wisdom of the California recall system
(which is indeed quite doubtful), let me suggest that a refusal of Gov.
Newsom to vacate his office if a majority of voters vote for his recall
would raise for many people, particularly Trump supporters, questions of
legitimacy. If I had more time today, I'd refine my comment. Please take it
as a tentative suggestion that a refusal to vacate office would create
serious difficulties.
