But the reformers solution to those "problems" has been to require
disclosure in elections with no candidates or even when there is no
election but pure issue advocacy and, in some cases, require disclosure
of one's name, address and employer for donations totaling all of
$25.00. This suggests that disclosure laws are intended to achieve
something besides giving the public the ability to judge the corrupting
influence of a donation, unless one really believes that the public must
be made aware of the massive influence two tens and a five have in a
policy discussion among citizens.

So the solution is no disclosure laws, unfettered secret contributions
to candidates, and no ability for the public to judge if a government
contract or policy was approved based on objective criteria or the
donation that the elected official got?
Since when did "Free Speech" advocates get so good at playing the victim
card? This is a remarkable transition from the "robust marketplace of
ideas" talking points.
