#270DailyQuiz: Here on the East Coast, we have experienced the worst natural disaster in years. It seemed a bit trivial to have continued with the quiz this past week under the circumstances, and, given that the election is upon us, the only question worth considering is whether all will go smoothly next Tuesday.

In the meantime, I, like some of our colleagues, have been bombarded with questions about how Hurricane Sandy affects the election. In the past I have written about the subject
(Earthquakes, Irene and Elections (2011)<http://www.stroock.com/sitecontent.cfm?contentID=58&itemID=1113>; Congress Needs to Be Prepared<http://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2008/10/15/in-case-of-election-crisis-congress-needs-to-be-prepared> (2008); and Could Terrorists Derail a Presidential Election? (2005)<http://ir.lawnet.fordham.edu/ulj/vol32/iss3/4/> ), and within the last few days have spoken about the issue (Could a Hurricane Like Sandy Postpone the Presidential Election<http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/10/could-a-hurricane-like-sandy-postpone-the-presidential-election/264254/>; and WGN - Chicago<http://www.wgnradio.com/shows/mikemcconnell/wgnam-jerry-goldfeder-20121031,0,5498293.mp3file>). Others have as well -- Steve Huefner<http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/analysis/index.php?ID=9961> and Rick Hasen<http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/10/30/how-many-more-near-election-disasters-before-congress-wakes-up.html>, for example.

Perhaps now Congress and the states will take planning more seriously.

Have a safe and victorious Election Day! Here is a piece about the Quiz. Goldfeder's Election Arcana<http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20121028/POLITICS/310289986>. Now for your Final Exam! Getting to 270<http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/presidential-campaign/264869-getting-to-270>.

I hope the only question we will have on Tuesday night is "Who won?" without having to worry about any constitutional issues or historical oddities.

I trust you have enjoyed this. I will reprise the Daily Quiz soon, with a different focus.

All the best,

Jerry
