Advanced Trial Advocacy


Criminal Justice, Trial Advocacy

This is a practical course in trial advocacy for students who have already learned the mechanics of conducting a trial and are looking to take the next step as courtroom advocates.  We will explore—and practice through simulation—more advanced concepts and techniques, including jury selection, storytelling, witness control, use of courtroom technology, and performance skills.  Each simulation exercise will include student performance, self-assessment, and individualized feedback from peers and the instructor.  Prerequisite: Law 211. Evidence and one of the following: Law 705. Civil Trial Advocacy or Law 720. Criminal Trial Advocacy or Law 785. Advanced Trial Advocacy.
