Evidence
This course examines the law governing the admission of evidence, focusing on the Federal Rules of Evidence (and to a lesser extent the California Evidence Code), related case law, and federal constitutional doctrine. A range of evidence topics are studied, including relevance, the role of the judge and jury, hearsay and its exceptions, confrontation, character evidence, form of direct and cross examination, impeachment, and expert testimony. Evidence is a recommended course for students who plan to take trial advocacy or other clinical offerings, and can serve as a basis for certification to appear in court during law school.Please review faculty specific descriptions for additional details regarding each offering.
