UCLA School of Law receives notices and information about various scholarships, fellowships and writing competitions sponsored by foundations, alumni associations, bar associations, etc. The Financial Aid Office will post applicable notices on this page or our intranet site as received.

HON. WILLIAM C. CONNER WRITING COMPETITION
The Honorable William Conner Writing Competition was established to recognize exceptionally written papers that are submitted by law students and is presented each year at the Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner. The winner will receive a cash award of $1,500 and the Runner-up will receive a cash award of $1,000.

ROBERT PITOFSKY LAW STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION
The Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association has an annual student writing competition. The competition is open to students publishing articles on areas of antitrust, competition policy, consumer protection law, and surrounding issues. The prize is $2,500 in cash, a one-year membership in our section, and airfare plus accommodations to our Spring Meeting in DC. We’ve extended our original deadline to February 28th, 2020.

DEFENDING YOURSELF SCHOLARSHIP
Attorneys at Scott Pryor Law are excited to announce the Defending Yourself Scholarship, which gives students the opportunity to express a time when they needed to defend themselves and explain what prepared them to do so. The Defending Yourself Scholarship will award $2,000 to a student who best shares their story about a time they defended themselves.

CITYWIDE LAW SCHOLARSHIP
Citywide Law Group is proud to offer a $1,500 scholarship to a current or aspiring law student. Los Angeles personal injury attorney Sherwin Arzani is a graduate of University of Michigan School of Law and has dedicated his career to helping accident victims.

STEPHEN K. HALL ACWA WATER LAW & POLICY SCHOLARSHIP
Each year through the Stephen K. Hall ACWA Water Law & Policy Scholarship Program, ACWA awards one scholarship to a qualified graduate student. Beginning with the 2019-’20 scholarship cycle, the annual scholarship amount was increased to $10,000.

RHODE ISLAND BAR FOUNDATION THOMAS F. BLACK Jr. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This Fund was established in 1989 to support and foster high legal practice standards by assisting Rhode Island residents who show promise that they will become outstanding lawyers and who need financial assistance to study law. For the academic year 2020 - 2021, the Foundation intends to grant two scholarships in the amount of $25,000.00 each.  The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee seeks applications from candidates without regard to race, color, religion, country of ancestral origin, handicap, age, sex, or sexual orientation.  The Committee will endeavor to make awards to assure that, over time, the recipients reflect the diversity of the Rhode Island population

MASSACHUSETTS BAR FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The MBF’s Legal Intern Fellowship Program was established in 1996 to give talented law students the experience and encouragement they need to pursue careers in the public interest law sector while providing legal aid organizations with much-needed additional staff capacity for the summer. The MBF awards at least three (3) stipends of $6,000 each to law students who intern during the summer months at nonprofit organizations providing civil legal services to low-income clients in Massachusetts.

SIDNEY B. WILLIAMS, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
The Sidney B. Williams Scholarship is for $10,000 per school year (two semesters, excluding summer school semesters and intersession) beginning with the fall semester for students enrolled or enrolling in a juris doctorate program. Scholarships are intended for students entering or attending law school in Fall 2020. Students must show demonstrated commitment to developing a career in intellectual property law.

SIDNEY B. WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Sidney B. Williams Scholarship Program for the 2020-2021 academic year is open to new applicants who are entering 1L students commencing J.D. studies in 2020. Awards are limited to entering 1L students with a demonstrable interest in exploring a career in patent law. Awardees are eligible for a 3-year award of $10,000 per school year. The awards for the second and third years are contingent upon satisfactory academic performance, normal progress towards a J.D. degree, and a continuing, demonstrable interest in exploring a career in patent law.

ANTHONY’S SCHOLARSHIP LIVING WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE
As a medical malpractice attorney, John Fisher values the lives of those who are suffering. On behalf of those who have been touched by suicide or struggled with it, he is proud to offer this $2,000 scholarship.

THE EARL WARREN SCHOLARSHIP
In honor of his memory, the Earl Warren Scholarship is awarded annually to rising law students whose commitment to racial justice reveals outstanding potential for training as civil rights and public interest attorneys. Eligible law students include those entering their first or second year of full-time legal study at an accredited law school. LDF’s Earl Warren Scholarship awards are $10,000 per year for three years (as long as scholars remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the scholarship criteria) for a total of $30,000.

RICHARD D. HAILEY SCHOLARSHIP
AAJ’s Minority Caucus will award a $5,000 scholarship to a minority law student member who is entering his/her first, second, or third year of law school. The winner must attend the AAJ Annual Convention in Washington, D.C. to receive the award. Travel and accommodations will be provided.

2019-20 PURSUING A POSITIVE IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

MIKE EIDSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship was established by the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it.  The Scholarship, traditionally given in the amount of $5,000, is awarded annually to a rising 3L female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a trial lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.

TAYLOR & RING’S ANNUAL VICTIM ADVOCATE SCHOLARSHIP
We are proud to announce the Taylor & Ring Victim Advocate Scholarship. This annual $5,000 award will be given to a student interested in pursuing the study of law with a specific goal of helping survivors of sexual assault, rape, child abuse, or sexual harassment in the workplace.

THE WAGNER & WAGNER ANNUAL CIVIL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Each year, we will award $2,500 to an eligible law or pre-law student who is enrolled in, or has proof of upcoming enrollment in, an accredited college or university for the Fall semester. We will announce the winners in July 2019.

THE ANNUAL HARRIS LOWRY MANTON LLP CIVIL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP
This $5,000 award will be given to any incoming or current law student who is either currently enrolled, or who has accepted a place, in an accredited law school for the Fall semester of the upcoming academic year. This annual scholarship will be awarded at the end of July.

THE CUNNINGHAM & MEARS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Cunningham & Mears Academic Scholarship is an annual award of $2500, presented by the firm, to a student who wishes to pursue the study of History or Law. The successful candidate must be enrolled in, or have proof of upcoming enrollment in, an accredited college, university, or law school for the upcoming academic school year. The scholarship can be paid directly to the institution upon the request of the student.

LAW STUDENT DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
As part of our commitment to diversity, Michigan Auto Law is pleased to sponsor an annual Scholarship Program to provide financial support to students who contribute to the diversity of the law school student body as they pursue their legal career.Our annual scholarship is $2,000.

MCKENZIE LAW FIRM, P.C. DUI AWARENESS SCHOLARSHIP
Every day, 29 people lose their lives due to an alcohol-impaired driver, accounting for 28% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To be considered for this $2,500 scholarship, students must fill out the application on this page and submit a 1,000-word essay discussing why people still engage in drunk driving, despite the risks.

CHISHOLM CHISHOLM & KILPATRICK LTD SCHOLARSHIP FOR VETERANS
This $1,500 scholarship is open to veterans enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school or who are accepted to an accredited U.S. law school. Applicants must be pursuing a juris doctorate (JD) degree.

ADAM Z. RICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The California Judges Foundation (CJF) was founded in 1966. CJF is administered by the California Judge's Association staff and supervised by a nine-person Board of Directors. The Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarship Fund celebrates the life of a young man who died at age 21. Adam was always trying to help others in need, whether it was the homeless or his classmates. The CJF now has an incredible to continue Adam’s legacy and fulfill its mission, promote education, and make a lasting impact on future generations devoted to the rule of law and equal access to justice.  Awards range from $1,000 to $4,000.

THE WARREN E. BURGER PRIZE
The American Inns of Court invites judges, lawyers, professors, students, scholars, and other authors to participate in the competition. Please submit an original, unpublished, essay of 10,000 to 20,000 words on a topic of your choice addressing issues of professionalism, ethics, civility, and excellence. The author of the winning essay will receive a cash prize of $5,000.

PATRICK MALONE & ASSOCIATES OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP
Patrick Malone & Associates is offering two scholarships of $5,000 each to law students committed to a career representing individuals.  We call this our “Representing Real People” scholarship. Our goal is to make a dent in the high cost of law school for students who want to represent individuals, to make it a little easier to choose such a career path.

At the The Embry Law Firm, LLC, we know first hand how education can change and enrich the lives of those who pursue it. However, we realize that education can be a financial constraint for students and their families.
