UCLA School of Law receives notices and information about various scholarships, fellowships and writing competitions sponsored by foundations, alumni associations, bar associations, etc. The Financial Aid Office will post applicable notices on this page or our intranet site as received.

SWITZER ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWSHIP
The Switzer Fellowship Program offers one-year Fellowships to highly talented graduate students in New England and California whose studies and career goals are directed toward environmental improvement and who clearly demonstrate leadership in their field. The Fellowship includes a $15,000 cash award for academic study, leadership training, access to a vibrant network of more than 650 Switzer Fellowship alums, and opportunities for professional development during the Fellowship year and beyond.

JAPANESE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Japanese American Bar Association Educational Foundation is pleased to offer up to five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to $3,000 each for deserving law students and recent law school graduates in furtherance of their legal education.

3L DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP – BAR STUDY
This $5,000 scholarship is intended to cover the cost of bar preparation courses and other costs associated with the bar exam. Furthermore, the scholarship is co-sponsored with statewide bar associations, providing students with networking opportunities that will allow them to find success beyond the bar exam itself.

DDR LAWYERS LEGAL SCHOLARSHIP
The DDR Lawyers Legal Scholarship by Dolan Dobrinsky Rosenblum, LLP is a recurring scholarship worth $1500 designed to help one law student with their tuition costs. We welcome all eligible students to apply and look forward to reviewing your application.

HOLLIS G. BEST SCHOLARSHIP
As a memorial to the late Presiding Justice Hollis G. Best, his friends have established a scholarship to encourage and support outstanding academic achievement and commitment to service by law students. The Best Scholarship is an annual award presented this year in the amount of $2,000, during the Spring 2020 semester. More than one scholarship may be awarded.

AKIN GUMP/ROBERT STRAUSS DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
The Strauss Scholarship provides a $25,000 scholarship to two outstanding second year law students at U.S. law schools to offset expenses for their third year of law school.  In addition to the financial award, the scholarships also provide mentoring from firm attorneys and a paid second year Summer Associate position in the firm’s Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. offices

CONSTANCE BAKER MOTLEY NATIONAL STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION
The winning paper author will be awarded $3,000 and each of the 2 runners-up will receive $1,000. The winning authors of the top 3 papers will be featured during the 2020 ACS National Convention and on ACS’s website and social media platforms. The top paper also receives an offer of publication in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law.

HON. WILLIAM C. CONNER WRITING COMPETITION
The Honorable William Conner Writing Competition was established to recognize exceptionally written papers that are submitted by law students and is presented each year at the Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner. The winner will receive a cash award of $1,500 and the Runner-up will receive a cash award of $1,000.

ROBERT PITOFSKY LAW STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION
The Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association has an annual student writing competition. The competition is open to students publishing articles on areas of antitrust, competition policy, consumer protection law, and surrounding issues. The prize is $2,500 in cash, a one-year membership in our section, and airfare plus accommodations to our Spring Meeting in DC. We’ve extended our original deadline to February 28th, 2020.

DEFENDING YOURSELF SCHOLARSHIP
Attorneys at Scott Pryor Law are excited to announce the Defending Yourself Scholarship, which gives students the opportunity to express a time when they needed to defend themselves and explain what prepared them to do so. The Defending Yourself Scholarship will award $2,000 to a student who best shares their story about a time they defended themselves.

CITYWIDE LAW SCHOLARSHIP
Citywide Law Group is proud to offer a $1,500 scholarship to a current or aspiring law student. Los Angeles personal injury attorney Sherwin Arzani is a graduate of University of Michigan School of Law and has dedicated his career to helping accident victims.

RHODE ISLAND BAR FOUNDATION THOMAS F. BLACK Jr. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This Fund was established in 1989 to support and foster high legal practice standards by assisting Rhode Island residents who show promise that they will become outstanding lawyers and who need financial assistance to study law. For the academic year 2020 - 2021, the Foundation intends to grant two scholarships in the amount of $25,000.00 each.  The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee seeks applications from candidates without regard to race, color, religion, country of ancestral origin, handicap, age, sex, or sexual orientation.  The Committee will endeavor to make awards to assure that, over time, the recipients reflect the diversity of the Rhode Island population

MASSACHUSETTS BAR FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The MBF’s Legal Intern Fellowship Program was established in 1996 to give talented law students the experience and encouragement they need to pursue careers in the public interest law sector while providing legal aid organizations with much-needed additional staff capacity for the summer. The MBF awards at least three (3) stipends of $6,000 each to law students who intern during the summer months at nonprofit organizations providing civil legal services to low-income clients in Massachusetts.

SIDNEY B. WILLIAMS, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
The Sidney B. Williams Scholarship is for $10,000 per school year (two semesters, excluding summer school semesters and intersession) beginning with the fall semester for students enrolled or enrolling in a juris doctorate program. Scholarships are intended for students entering or attending law school in Fall 2020. Students must show demonstrated commitment to developing a career in intellectual property law.

THE EARL WARREN SCHOLARSHIP
In honor of his memory, the Earl Warren Scholarship is awarded annually to rising law students whose commitment to racial justice reveals outstanding potential for training as civil rights and public interest attorneys. Eligible law students include those entering their first or second year of full-time legal study at an accredited law school. LDF’s Earl Warren Scholarship awards are $10,000 per year for three years (as long as scholars remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the scholarship criteria) for a total of $30,000.

TAYLOR & RING’S ANNUAL VICTIM ADVOCATE SCHOLARSHIP
We are proud to announce the Taylor & Ring Victim Advocate Scholarship. This annual $5,000 award will be given to a student interested in pursuing the study of law with a specific goal of helping survivors of sexual assault, rape, child abuse, or sexual harassment in the workplace.

THE WAGNER & WAGNER ANNUAL CIVIL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Each year, we will award $2,500 to an eligible law or pre-law student who is enrolled in, or has proof of upcoming enrollment in, an accredited college or university for the Fall semester. We will announce the winners in July 2019.

THE ANNUAL HARRIS LOWRY MANTON LLP CIVIL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP
This $5,000 award will be given to any incoming or current law student who is either currently enrolled, or who has accepted a place, in an accredited law school for the Fall semester of the upcoming academic year. This annual scholarship will be awarded at the end of July.

THE CUNNINGHAM & MEARS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Cunningham & Mears Academic Scholarship is an annual award of $2500, presented by the firm, to a student who wishes to pursue the study of History or Law. The successful candidate must be enrolled in, or have proof of upcoming enrollment in, an accredited college, university, or law school for the upcoming academic school year. The scholarship can be paid directly to the institution upon the request of the student.

As part of our commitment to diversity, Michigan Auto Law is pleased to sponsor an annual Scholarship Program to provide financial support to students who contribute to the diversity of the law school student body as they pursue their legal career.Our annual scholarship is $2,000.

THE WARREN E. BURGER PRIZE
The American Inns of Court invites judges, lawyers, professors, students, scholars, and other authors to participate in the competition. Please submit an original, unpublished, essay of 10,000 to 20,000 words on a topic of your choice addressing issues of professionalism, ethics, civility, and excellence. The author of the winning essay will receive a cash prize of $5,000.

PATRICK MALONE & ASSOCIATES OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP
Patrick Malone & Associates is offering two scholarships of $5,000 each to law students committed to a career representing individuals.  We call this our “Representing Real People” scholarship.
