J.D. Student Ambassador: Christian Rodrigues
My name is Christian Rodrigues, and I’m a rising 2L at UCLA School of Law. I’m from Laguna Niguel, California, and I went to UC Santa Barbara, where I majored in Economics and Accounting and minored in Philosophy. After graduating, I worked in finance consulting in San Francisco before deciding to pursue law school.
For someone looking to live and work on the West Coast, there really was no better option than UCLA. I came into law school with a desire to explore various potential career paths, and UCLA felt like the perfect fit. I had become familiar with UCLA’s excellence in a number of different fields like business law, sports and entertainment, environmental law, and IP. Most importantly, I wanted to be surrounded by driven peers and faculty who would challenge and support me. From the moment I stepped on campus for Admitted Students Day, I sensed a culture where people genuinely root for each other’s success. My 1L year only deepened that impression.
I’m currently pursuing specializations in both Business Law & Policy and Media, Entertainment, and Technology Law & Policy. I served as the 1L Representative for the Business Law Association and am now the Co-Vice President. I’m also a member of the Sports Law Association (SLA), the AI Law Association (AILA), and the Society for Interactive Entertainment and Gaming Law (SIEGL). I’ve made great friends, learned more about the law than I could have imagined, and connected with incredibly talented and passionate professionals from around the country. I hope to take as many experiential courses as possible and participate in a clinic during my remaining time at UCLA.
The school does a fantastic job creating opportunities to learn about different career paths and hear directly from practitioners in the field. I actually discovered the firm I am working at this summer, Massumi + Consoli LLP, by attending one of these events and hearing from attorneys who would later become my future coworkers. The access and insight UCLA provides into the legal profession have been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful to be here.
I’m more than happy to share my experience and answer any questions you might have. Please feel free to reach out!"
