J.D. Student Ambassador: Julia Nuti

Julia NutiHello everyone! My name is Julia Nuti and I am a 2L at UCLA School of Law. I grew up in Pleasant Hill, California before attending San Diego State University where I double majored in English and Philosophy and minored in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. During college, I was a teaching assistant in logic and ethics, president of my sorority, and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

I chose UCLA Law because of the collegial environment, the opportunities in sports and entertainment law, and the strong career support. In my 1L year, I got to see first hand how genuinely passionate the professors here are about, not only their areas of expertise, but also teaching the law to the next generation of lawyers. I was excited to take advantage of UCLA Law’s unique 1L elective opportunity and was able to take Intellectual Property in my second semester, which reinforced my interest in entertainment law. The academic environment here is supportive and welcoming, and I have always felt encouraged to pursue my passions. I also appreciated the support of Career Services during my 1L and 2L job search. They reviewed my resume and cover letters and met with me for mock interviews tailored to the firms and practice areas I was interviewing with.

At UCLA, I am specializing in Media, Entertainment, Technology, and Sports Law through the Ziffren Institute. I am a member of the Entertainment Law Association, Sports Law Association, and Business Law Association. I spend my time outside of class working pro bono at the Homeboy Industries Expungement Clinic, as well as in my role as Director of Development at Path to the Pits, a nonprofit in the motorsports industry promoting gender and racial diversity in racing careers. This past summer, I worked at the California Department of Justice in the Post Conviction Justice Unit. Next year, I will be a summer associate at Allen Matkins in their Downtown LA office.

I have loved my experience at UCLA Law so far, and look forward to speaking with prospective students about everything that makes our community the best place to study law. Please feel welcome to reach out to me with any questions about my experience!
