Michael O’Key is a 3L at UCLA Law in the David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy, Critical Race Studies, and Criminal Law and Policy specializations. He is also a sixth-year Ph.D. candidate in Education at Stanford University. A first-generation student, Michael is a former high school teacher and urban planner who hopes to work at the intersection of youth law, education policy and civil rights.

He serves as a Senior Publishing Editor for the UCLA Law Review, Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA National Black Law Journal, co-chair for the El Centro Reentry Legal Clinic, Graduate Extern with the Bruin Underground Scholars Program, and Research Fellow with the UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families. 

Mike spent the summer following his 1L year as a judicial extern for the Honorable Myron H. Thompson at the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Alabama in Montgomery, AL. This past summer, Michael worked as a Summer Associate at Loevy + Loevy in Chicago, IL.
