Hi, everyone! My name is Michael Stallworth and I’m a 3L. I grew up in Stockton and Los Angeles, CA. I earned two bachelor's degrees in sociology and Black studies from UC Santa Barbara in three years and graduated summa cum laude. While at UCSB, I co-founded a pre-law organization for Black students called Obsidian Pre-Law Association and completed the UCLA Law Fellows Program in 2019. I also won the Michael D. Young Engaged Scholar Award for my principled leadership and scholarly knowledge throughout my time at UCSB.
Upon graduating from UCSB, I worked as a law clerk at Boucher LLP, where I assisted on sexual abuse cases against California Catholic Clergy members and employment law matters and completed the SEO Law Fellowship. I spent my last two summers working in big law at Hogan Lovells US LLP in Houston, TX, where I had the chance to work in-house for IBM and ExxonMobil.
UCLA Law was my dream school, so being a student here is such a gracious moment. Currently, I am in the Critical Race Studies and Media and Entertainment specializations. These two specializations are the main reasons I decided to come to UCLA Law. I am co-chair of Black Law Students Association, Diversity Chair for the Student Bar Association, a staff member for UCLA Law Review, and a UCLA Law tour guide. My favorite class thus far is definitely Music Industry Law. As an avid music lover, it’s really enjoyable to learn about the business side of the music industry and everything that goes into concerts, tours, advertisements, etc. Aside from class, my favorite memories have been with BLSA. The annual gala we have each year is such a beautiful time to meet alumni, prospective students, and community leaders.
I absolutely love meeting prospective students, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have about our law school!
