Forty Years of HIV Criminalization and a Path to Reform

December 1, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Today, HIV is a preventable and manageable health condition, but many states still enforce outdated criminal laws against individuals living with HIV. These laws were enacted during the early days of the HIV epidemic and often target behavior that does not actually transmit the virus. In this webinar, panelists will discuss a decade of research from the Williams Institute on HIV criminalization, documenting thousands of cases. They will also explain how advocates and policymakers are utilizing this data to advocate for reform.
