Aimée Scala

Lecturer in Law

Aimée Scala is a part-time lecturer at UCLA School of law and teaches Legal Communication and Analysis. Her research lies in art law, copyright and licensing, and emerging technologies.  She is currently a partner at Mazzola Lindstrom LLP, where she manages the firm’s Los Angeles office and specializes in litigation as well as transactional law, particularly in the areas of fine art, intellectual property, emerging technologies, and media law, and was the past chair of the Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property Section, Los Angeles County Bar Association. Ms. Scala represents clients in a variety of creative fields, including the visual arts, new media, emerging technologies, photography, and publishing industries, and was previously the photo editor of Artforum magazine from 2004-2013.

Ms. Scala received her B.A. cum laude at Columbia University and her J.D., cum laude at Brooklyn Law School, where she was the Chair of the Art Law Association, won the National Law Review Student Writing Competition and the Marguerite Munger Peet Scholarship, and received awards for excellence in Copyright Law and History of the Constitution.

Ms. Scala’s publications have appeared in the National Law Review and the ELIPS Law Lab. Ms. Scala has a publication forthcoming in The Licensing Journal, slated for March 2026.
