Richard M. Milanovich Fellow
James T. Campbell is the Richard M. Milanovich Fellow at UCLA School of Law. His research centers primarily on federal and territorial courts, Indigenous recognition, and overseas imperialism in U.S. constitutional thought.
He received his B.A. and J.D. from Yale, where he served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal and received the Michael Egger Prize. After law school, he served as a Justice Catalyst Fellow at the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands and as a law clerk to the Hon. Barrington D. Parker, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Hon. Lewis A. Kaplan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Campbell’s work has appeared in academic publications like the Yale Law Journal and the Yale Law Journal Forum and has been cited in multiple federal judicial opinions. Both academically and in practice, Campbell’s work is animated by both his Native CHamoru background and his experiences as a U.S. Army veteran. Campbell served on active duty as a reconnaissance platoon leader and is a graduate of U.S. Army Ranger School.
