Lecturer in Law
Osama Alkhawaja is a part-time lecturer at UCLA School of Law and teaches Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research. His research lies in questions about the First Amendment, civil protections during war time, and legal realism. He currently works as a litigation associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP., where he primarily focuses on government facing litigation, antitrust, and plaintiff side work. Prior to his legal career, he worked at the International Rescue Committee.
Alkhawaja received his B.A. in Political Science Summa Cum Laude at San Diego State University, and his J.D. at the University of Chicago Law School, where he was the Executive Articles Editor of the Chicago Journal of International Law, and the president of the Muslim Law Student Association. He clerked for the Honorable John C. Coughenour in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, and the Honorable Salvador Mendoza Jr., in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
