Join us for the launch of a new guide from the Williams Institute, designed to help state and local governments, researchers, and community organizations collect reliable, inclusive data on LGBTQ communities. With the ongoing removal of questions about sexual orientation and gender identity in federal surveys, this guide provides timely, practical tools for producing high-quality, community-centered data that can shape effective laws, policies, and programs. Drawing on over two decades of research experience, it offers tested methods for designing surveys that capture the full diversity of LGBTQ experiences and promote equity in health and well-being at the local and state levels.

December 1, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Today, HIV is a preventable and manageable health condition, but many states still enforce outdated criminal laws against individuals living with HIV. These laws were enacted during the early days of the HIV epidemic and often target behavior that does not actually transmit the virus. In this webinar, panelists will discuss a decade of research from the Williams Institute on HIV criminalization, documenting thousands of cases. They will also explain how advocates and policymakers are utilizing this data to advocate for reform.

October 17, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

This webinar will examine the October 7 oral arguments in Chiles v. Salazar, a case challenging Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy for minors. The case centers on licensed counselor Kaley Chiles’ claim that enforcement of the law violates her free speech rights. Panelists will discuss the legal issues raised in the case and present Williams Institute research on the impact of conversion therapy on LGBTQ people.
