Appellate Advocacy: Moot Court Competitions

Trial Advocacy

This course is designed for students who will be representing the law school in external moot court competitions.  The course will provide instruction regarding effective brief writing and oral advocacy in the appellate context.   The course will also provide training and support for students participating in external moot court competitions.  In addition to participating in an external competition, students will be required to prepare for and participate in five practice rounds as an advocate and four practice rounds as a judge. Students will also be required to write a short paper reflecting on their experiences in moot court competitions and prepare written critiques of two Ninth Circuit oral arguments.
