Bioethics and Healthcare Privacy

This is a three-unit course designed to give students an overview of legal issues relating to bioethics and healthcare privacy. The course will seek to convey practical information relating to legal and ethical challenges that arise within our healthcare systems, including the elaborate framework to protect patient information, and laws and regulations intended to protect patient’s right to autonomy and self-determination. Major cases and statutes will be reviewed and critically analyzed.
