Compliance Law
This course will cover the elements of an effective ethics and compliance program and provide an overview of key areas of law. It will provide a strong background to enable you to prevent and identify risks, communicate such risks with adequate context to management, and address problems that occur.
The course is divided into two main parts. First, we will examine what compliance, ethics and corporate governance mean. This includes looking at the historical background for regulatory compliance. We will also focus on the elements of a compliance program, how to create and implement a program, and how to evaluate whether the program is effective. Second, we will study several specific industries and areas of law. Each of these areas in the second part is the subject of one or more entire courses; the object here is to gain a broad overview of these areas so that you will be able to spot compliance issues.
We will use real case studies along the way in order to understand better why compliance failures occur, and how you can help to prevent such events (and address them if they occur) at your company.
