From the demise of Enron, to those of the Madoff Company and Silicon Valley’s Theranos, to the Boeing 737 Max disasters, this course will examine a number of major compliance failures. Lives were lost, companies collapsed, and individuals ended up behind bars. We’ll learn how a robust compliance program and ethical leadership can prevent such occurrences. This course will cover the elements of an effective compliance program and provide an overview of key areas of law. It will give students a strong background to enable them to prevent and identify risks, to communicate such risks with adequate context to management, and to address problems that occur.
