Health Law, Public Interest Law

This seminar covers the law of health care access and financing in the United States. Topics include: legal obligations of individual and institutional health care providers to provide care regardless of ability to pay; anti-discrimination statutes applicable to health care providers, insurers, and public health care programs; civil liability of private health insurers; state and federal regulation of health insurance underwriting and managed care practices; Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, coverage, administration, reimbursement, and appeals; and public subsidies for private health insurance.
