UCLA Law is proud of the depth and breadth of the careers and interests pursued by our students prior to law school. Our students have excelled in almost every industry. The following is just a sampling of some of the outstanding pre-law school accomplishments of the class of 2021.
The class includes two student body presidents, one class president, the chair of an undergraduate student senate, 12 mock trial team captains or mock trial presidents, four captains or presidents of debate teams, seven fraternity or sorority presidents, three patent agents, two executive directors of non-profits, and two editors-in-chief of student newspapers.
BusinessA number of students are entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses. The class also includes professionals from the investment banking, private equity, real estate, consulting, banking and accounting industries.
Arts & Entertainment The incoming class has a wealth of experience in the art, entertainment and media industries and includes accomplished actors, producers, documentary film makers and numerous instrumentalists and dancers.
Government Students in the Class of 2021 have worked or interned for The White House, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, Peace Corps, and for numerous U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives and candidates for elected office. The incoming class also includes veterans from the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Public Service Students are passionate about a variety of issues and have worked or volunteered for organizations like the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Development Programme, the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project, Human Rights Watch, Teach for America, the Disability Rights Legal Center, the National Lawyers Guild, and World Relief to name only a few.
Athletics The class includes competitive athletes as well as a number of team captains in the sports of track and field, football, soccer, squash, baseball, basketball, swimming, cross country, cheerleading, hockey, gymnastics and rugby.
Bar Passage Rate For the Class Of 2017Approximately 88% of the UCLA Law graduates who took the July 2017 California Bar Exam for the first time passed the examination. The statewide bar passage rate average for first-time test takers was approximately 62%. For UCLA Law graduates taking the July 2017 New York Bar Exam, the passage rate was 92% for first-time test takers.
