Business Law Breakfast: Rethinking Securities Law - Effecting Necessary Law Reform for Capital Markets with Marc I. Steinberg

November 14, 2022 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Marc I. Steinberg, the Rupert and Lillian Radford Professor of Law at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law, will discuss his book, Rethinking Securities Law (Oxford University Press, 2021). Rethinking Securities Law was selected the Best Law Book of 2021. In Rethinking Securities Law, Professor Steinberg proposes a greater role for the federal law in determining acceptable corporate conduct. Professor Steinberg proposes federal legislation designed to eliminate the dangers and excesses in corporate conduct permitted by current state law. As federal judge Jed Rakoff explained in his review of Rethinking Securities Law, “[Professor] Steinberg has combined a reformist vision with detailed proposals for realizing that vision."

Professor Steinberg, a 1975 graduate of UCLA School of Law, has authored approximately 150 law review articles and 40 books, is editor-in-chief of The International Lawyer, editor-in-chief of The Securities Regulation Law Journal, and is an adviser to The Journal of Corporation Law
