Sarah Erickson André

Lecturer in Law

Sarah Erickson André teaches Legal Research and Writing at UCLA School of Law. Before joining the faculty, Ms. André was a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP, where she practiced for close to fifteen years. Her practice centered on federal appellate litigation and representing foreign sovereigns and cultural institutions.

Ms. André received her B.A. from North Park College, cum laude, and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. During law school, Ms. André served as Managing Editor of The Virginia Journal of Social Policy & the Law. After law school, she spent one year clerking for the Honorable Gary A. Feess of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and three years clerking for the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. From 2011 to 2014, Ms. André served as an Appellate Lawyer Representative to the Judicial Conference of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a co-author of The Appellate Lawyer Representative's Guide to Practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which is accessible from the court’s website.

Ms. André is co-editor of Federal Appeals: Jurisdiction & Practice (Thomson Reuters 2023 ed.).
