Jesse Carlson

Lecturer in Law

M. Jesse Carlson is a part time Lecturer at UCLA School of Law and will teach Professional Responsibility in 2026. Professor Carlson has taught courses in Professional Responsibility and Civil Procedure at Georgetown University Law Center as an adjunct professor and has served as an expert witness in matters related to professional responsibility and compliance. He currently serves as the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Kapitus, a B2B financial technology company. Professor Carlson previously was Counsel in the Professional Liability and Financial Crimes Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and was in private practice at the law firm of Williams & Connolly in Washington DC focusing on professional liability and financial services litigation.

Professor Carlson received his B.A., magna cum laude, in History and Government at Colby College and his J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif from Georgetown Law, where he served as a notes editor for the Georgetown Journal of International Law. Upon graduating, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John M. Rogers in the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
