Sixteen members of the UCLA School of Law faculty have been recognized as leaders of legal scholarship based on the impact of their research and writing. The total is a new high for UCLA Law.

UCLA Law Professor David Dolinko

David Dolinko ’80, a devoted member of the UCLA School of Law community for more than four decades and noted authority in criminal law and the philosophy of punishment, died on Dec. 30 due to complications from COVID-19. He was 72.

Six UCLA School of Law professors, including leading scholars in environmental law, critical race studies, law and philosophy, health law and constitutional law, have received appointments to endowed faculty chairs. Four of the chairs are being filled for the first time.

The chairs recognize the distinction of the law school’s exceptional faculty members and are made possible by the tremendous generosity of UCLA Law’s alumni and friends.

Herbert Morris

Herbert Morris, a preeminent member of the faculty at UCLA School of Law and the UCLA Philosophy Department, has received the 2019-20 Constantine Panunzio Distinguished Emeriti Award, an honor that goes to retired University of California professors of longstanding influence and leadership in their fields.
Morris is the first law professor to receive the honor, which was established in 1983.

The Law and Philosophy discipline explores both classic and contemporary questions about the nature of law and legal systems, with a focus on areas including constitutional, criminal and contract law.
