What is a Master of Legal Studies Degree?
This program delivers a master's degree in graduate-level legal education, designed specifically for professionals — empowering leaders across the private, nonprofit, and government sectors to understand complex legal issues and confidently navigate laws, regulations, disputes, and interactions with lawyers.
Why earn a Master of Legal Studies Degree in the Global Cohort?
The experience is tailored to those from outside of the U.S. common law system. All courses will equip you with a sophisticated understanding of the U.S. legal system. The program is packed with connection opportunities for a networking experience that only UCLA can provide.
What courses will I take in the Master of Legal Studies program?
All students complete the core curriculum. This includes:
- Introduction to American Law
- Private Law: Property, Torts, and Contract
- Public Law: Constitutional and Statutory Analysis
- Legal Analysis and Communication
- Business Law for Non-Lawyers OR The Civil Dispute Resolution System
Those in the Global Business Law specialization will take courses specifically designed for students in this cohort. Alternatively, students may opt to apply outside of the cohort to any specialization.
