M.L.S. Program General Information

UCLA's Master of Legal Studies program is a highly selective program built on engagement and connection.  The Part-Time option is for students working full time looking for a flexible program.  The Full-Time option is for students recently out of undergraduate or on an F-1 Visa.

The program is for students looking to advance their career and connect with professionals from the #1 Public University in America and the #1 law school in Southern California.

The program was designed knowing that there are professionals in broad sectors of the economy that have a high need for sophisticated training in the law, but who don't need (or want) to become attorneys.  This program unlocks that training from one of the top law schools in the world.

Time Investment in Program

Our Part-Time program is designed for flexibility for the working professional.  We know that the working professional is balancing work, family and other obligations.  We have designed this program with that in mind.

Note:  Students apply for either the Full-Time program or the Part-Time program.  Students in the Part-Time program can register for as many classes as they like each semester (i.e. a student can start at a 3-year pace and switch to a 2-year pace at will).  The following chart is only meant to illustrate if a student stays on the same pace towards graduation.
