J.D. Student Ambassador: Jada Evans

Jada Evans

My name is Jada Evans and I am a 2L at the UCLA School of Law. I moved to Los Angeles for law school from the great state of New Jersey, where I was born and raised. I received my bachelor’s degree from The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where I majored in law, technology, and culture and minored in IT. Throughout my college experience, I was a resident assistant and a TA. I enjoyed working with other students and being a helping hand to those who needed it. I was also Vice President of the Pre-Law Society, where I helped found the NJIT Undergraduate Law Journal. The pre-law community at my college was small but strong, and I loved being a part of a dedicated group that helped each other prepare for law school.

I chose UCLA Law for a few reasons, but the most important one to me is the Technology Law Specialization, which I am pursuing. I was also very excited about the Institute for Technology, Law, and Policy, which hosts Tech Talks throughout the semester where I have been able to hear from leaders in the tech law industry about the work they do. I also have taken an interest in intellectual property, and thus far have taken multiple IP-related courses including Trademarks, Copyright, Entertainment Law, and the general IP survey course. During my 1L summer, I worked as a research assistant through the law library, where I did work related to the usage of AI in the welfare system. Because I want to work in the technology law sector after I graduate, being able to take classes and gain experience in the field before I leave law school is very valuable to me, and UCLA has been able to provide me with exactly that.

Here at UCLA Law, I am also a tour guide and I often volunteer for admissions events. I love being able to act as a resource for those who are going through the application and law school selection process. I am also the Academic Chair of our Black Law Student Association, where I have been able to connect with 1Ls on their journey of navigating their first semester of law school. I am so happy I chose UCLA Law because the community I have become a part of has helped me grow as a person. Law school is hard work, but the support I have received from my friends, family, and the professors and staff here has made it that much easier. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I am excited to talk about UCLA Law.
