
Making a smooth transition from big law firms to entertainment boutiques was the topic for an alum and a colleague who came to UCLA Law on January 30 to participate in the Ziffren Center's Supplemental Practical Legal Education (SPLE) program.

Rounding out the Ziffren Center's Supplemental Practical Legal Education (SPLE) programs for 2018-19, UCLA Law alums, on Ayo Adeyeye '13 and Erez Rosenberg '15 of Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein offered a lunchtime presentation on March 8 on the basics of transactional entertainment law—namely the Certificate of Engagement.

UCLA School of Law alumnus Travis Bell ’17 has received the first Ambassador Award ever presented by Gideon’s Promise. The award goes to a person who supports the Gideon’s Promise mission to raise the standard of indigent defense by building a movement of public defenders.

Since the 1940s, the responsibility for managing California farmers' use of agricultural pesticides, and the substantial health risks they pose, has been shared by state and county regulators. The state's Department of Pesticide Regulation registers pesticide products; county-level agricultural commissioners issue permits for the use of "restricted" pesticides — those that present significant human health or environmental concerns.

More than 150 leaders in human rights, critical race theory and third world approaches to international law convened at UCLA School of Law on March 8 for the symposium “Critical Perspectives on Race and Human Rights: Transnational Re-Imaginings.”
