Race, Work and Economic Justice Clinic

Advancing workplace-related rights for underrepresented communities in Los Angeles, UCLA Law's Critical Race Studies program founded the Race, Work and Economic Justice Clinic in 2018. Housed under UCLA Law’s student-led El Centro Legal Clinics, this initiative is a collaboration with the Los Angeles Black Worker Center and San Francisco-based Legal Aid at Work.

The partnership provides legal advocacy for clients while giving law students opportunities to develop their critical legal skills. Under the guidance of UCLA Law faculty and supervising attorneys from both Legal Aid at Work and the community, participants in the clinic assist low-wage workers dealing with workplace challenges including employment discrimination based on age, race, sexual orientation or national origin, wage theft, health and safety violations, and access to unemployment and disability benefits.
