Working on Global Standards for HIV Prevention in Detention

Freyaan Karanjia '12 worked with Just Detention International to research public health and international legal standards for HIV prevention in detention, with a focus on women prisons in Jamaica and Guyana. This project was funded with support that UCLA's Program in Global Health received from the Ford Foundation. Ms. Karanjia also worked with Health and Human Rights Project Director Lara Stemple and UCLA Law Professor Tendayin Achiume to research the clinical legal education offerings concerning prisoners’ rights and prison healthcare policy in Southern Africa.
