Sonke Gender Justice Report, April 2016

Sonke Gender Justice Network works across Africa to advocate for policies that promote gender equality, prevent domestic and sexual violence, and reduce the spread and impact of HIV. A comprehensive evaluation report on the work of the Sonke’s Policy Development and Advocacy Unit found that the Sonke’s work helped (1) to educate policymakers and the public about human rights abuses against women, prisoners, and sex workers, and (2) to advocate for important policy reform. Because of the success of the UCLA Law/Sonke Health and Human Rights Fellowship, many of Sonke’s staff members are graduates of UCLA Law.
