Plea Bargaining

This project studies how plea bargaining, once considered unique to American criminal justice, has spread around the world and discusses its implications. One product of this research discusses how a substantial percentage of criminal convictions around the world are currently reached without trial. The Transnational Program on Criminal Justice is also sponsoring a collaborative project on the spread of plea bargaining in Latin America with the National Litoral University, Santa Fe, Argentina.
