Twenty-five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the legal and technological transformations initiated in response to the attacks continue to shape the exercise of executive authority. In the name of national security, the post-9/11 era ushered in sweeping expansions of state power. These developments transformed domestic and international law while reshaping the lives of communities targeted by racialized national security policies, immigration enforcement, policing, and war.

This symposium will bring together scholars, advocates, and others to reflect on the legacies of the War on Terror and to imagine more just futures beyond its frameworks of fear, exclusion, and militarization.
