“UCLA School of Law is a storyteller’s dream,” says Annabel Adams, who joined the law school in 2022 as assistant dean of communications. “It’s not just that we have a treasure trove of stories waiting to be told, it’s also the caliber of impact we can speak to.”

That caliber of impact certainly extends to UCLA Law’s Office of Communications, which, in a matter of months, Adams has grown to include staff with a full set of the talents and tools that are necessary to elevate the law school’s storytelling operations.

As the debate over what responsibilities corporations carry in our society grows increasingly politicized, UCLA School of Law Distinguished Professor Stephen Bainbridge has entered the fray with his new book, The Profit Motive: Defending Shareholder Value Maximization (Cambridge University Press).

Few Angelenos outside the human rights legal space have had opportunities to interact with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) – the leading human rights body in the western hemisphere. Thanks to the efforts of the Promise Institute for Human Rights at UCLA Law, that will change this March.

It’s only February, but 2Ls Sydney Gaskins and Rochelle Mulondo have their summer career plans settled. Gaskins will return to Morrison Foerster, an international law firm, as a diversity scholar. She is a powerhouse on UCLA’s top-ranked trial advocacy team, having won her past three competitions. Mulondo, will join the seasoned lawyers at Sidley Austin in the tech transactions group as a diversity scholar. Specializing in technology law, she’s already interned at Apple.

Constitutional law scholar Adam Winkler on Feb. 9 became the first UCLA professor to host a Reddit “Ask me anything.” Prompted by the spate of mass shootings in the U.S., Winkler, UCLA School of Law’s Connell Professor of Law, took to Reddit to provide context on historical and modern interpretations of U.S. gun laws.
